Filming in Israel

Finding a fixer in Israel

When you work with a fixer in Israel, it’s essential that you make sure they offer all the services necessary for all kinds of filming in Israel. For example, Israel Fixers helps you with your visa application, no matter how complex it might turn out to be. We also handle getting your location permits, organize proper filming equipment, and even assist you with any cultural barriers you may come up against. Making things easy for you is always our main priority.

Visa for Israel

Short-term filming in Israel (i.e. up to three months), will require a B/2 tourist visa, and this typically takes only a few weeks to process.  That said, for some nationalities another type of visa may be required, and depending on where you’re coming from, may need more detailed documentation. As your production partner in Israel, we can help you manage the visa process, ensuring all the necessary paperwork is properly completed and submitted on time.

Film Permits in Israel

Considering the historic and political relevance of Israel, you can well imagine that you’d need film permits to shoot here. Once again, though, as your fixer in Israel, you don’t have to fret; we’ll help streamline this process by liaising with local authorities or private building owners, managing the administrative work, while ensuring compliance with regulations. Should you need to fly a drone, we’ll apply to the Civil Aviation Authority, which is the appropriate body, on your behalf.

Special equipment
renting info

Bringing your own filming equipment to Israel is pretty straightforward since it’s an ATA carnet country, but it can be costly and, with our  strong connections with several reputable equipment rental companies, it might be better to organize your equipment here. After all, if we can get you the cameras, lighting, sound desk, and other high-end equipment that you need and at competitive local prices, wouldn’t that be easier? This is part and parcel of the service we offer you as a film fixer in Israel.

Cultural facts

Israel is a rare country in that it has large Jewish, Muslim and Arab communities and observes traditions in all three faiths. That means, you must be sensible to the cultural nuances of whichever community you’re filming in. Additionally, shooting scenes at important religious sites often requires special film permits, though as your local production support company, we’ll take care of those permits for you. We’ll also help  you navigate the specific religious customs and expectations to ensure a respectful and smooth production process.

Weather when filming in Israel

The fact that Israel boasts a Mediterranean climate means that you can expect hot, dry months if filming in Israel during the summer and mild, occasionally wet weather in winters.  However, be aware that Israel does have a desert region too and if you’re shooting scenes here you must expect extreme heat, and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of your crew and equipment. We’ll advise you on the best times to film based on which locations you’ve chosen and what your project needs.

Tax Rebate in Israel

Foreign filmmakers can be assured that, since 2022, a series of tax rebates for international filmmakers filming in Israel have been rolled out. This entitles foreign productions made in Israel to apply for up to 30% of production expenses, capped at ILS16.6 million ($4.9 million). In addition, there’s also an insurance fund for film professionals and production companies, which has actually been available since 2008, and helps cover a production in case of delay or disruptions caused by acts of war.
